India v/s England

If one wanted to know why India is still a under-developed country where progress seems to be an endangered species, two incidents this week showcased why. In UK, Home Secretary David Blunkett quit after a lot of pressure and noise, just because an e-mail emerged showing a visa application for his ex-lover's nanny had been fast-tracked. Remember, no rules broke, no threat to the country, no threat to the society. Although improper, I wud say this is a trivial issue.

Just a couple of dayz before this happened, in good old India, a state High Court - the highest judicial body of the state - had passed one after another stricture against a ruling party MP, and also against the state govt, and another court issued warrant notice against a minsiter for not honoring earlier summons. None of this seem to have affected the govt, that too in a time when they are going to face elections in a couple of months! I will not be surprised if inspite of this, and hundereds of other allegations, the Laloo-Rabri govt retains power. As I had said, may be the ppl of Bihar deserve this govt :-( May the Lord give the people the wisdom and the courage to over-throw this govt, and give them the luck so that an alternative govt will be a wee bit better! Not that the alternatives in the form of Paswan and Sharad Yadav sound very promising though!
