Does God desert you?

Happened to read this interesting paragraph from the Yogoda Satsanga Society's quaterly magazine:

The Lord does test His devotees, those who love Him - not for their harm but that they may grow stronger spiritually, that they may perfect their love for Him. In the life of Saint Teresa of Avila, we read that the numerous obstacles and difficulties she encountered while trying to carry out God's will once caused her to cry out in exasperation, "Why Lord?" To which He responded, "This is how I treat My friends." The saint's reply was characteristically good-humoured: "No wonder, my Lord, that You have so few freinds!"

Is it not true that you cherish those friends who have passed through the flames of trials to stand by you, who will not be deterred by your weaknesses or by circumstances that test the friendship you share? Do you not think that God also wants to know how strong is your love for Him, and to see, "Do you love Me, My child, or will this or that take you away from me?"

How true this is! If you are feeling let down by God, fate, destiny, luck, or whatever you want to put your blame on, you need to read this!

The living entity in the material world carries his different conceptions of life from one body to another as the air carries aromas.
- Bhagavad Gita
