Cost of air travel in India

My stay in the US has left me in awe of the cheap air travel there. It pains me no bound to see the exorbitantly high cost of air travel in India. Although this cost is reducing gradually, it is still no where near the rates that would make it the preferential mode of travel for the common man :-( An analysis in rediff on why air travel still costs so much in India. With Govts more interested in playing to the galleries (read masses), it is highly unlikely that the air fares will come down in near future.

Renounce it, and enjoy it!em>

Surjeet goes to US!

Found it funny that the eternal Marxist Harkishen Singh Surjeet has gone to the US - the land that he loves to criticise - to get his eye treated. Does this mean acceptance that the capitalist US health industry is better than the socialist Russian health sector? ;-)

To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research.

Nehru and his policies

Claude Arpi puts into right perspective Nehru's high moral values but low practical value in this article in rediff. I echo when he says that Manekshaw's following anecdote "perfectly exemplifies Nehru" - 'As usual Nehru talked about the United Nations, Russia, Africa, God Almighty, everybody, until Sardar Patel lost his temper. He said, 'Jawaharlal, do you want Kashmir, or do you want to give it away?' He [Nehru] said, 'Of course, I want Kashmir.' Then he [Patel] said: 'Please give your orders.'

He who lies down on the ground cannot fall.
