Responsibility of MSM

Itz now the turn of Vijaya Karnataka to get a guest editor, a la TOI. They had the Deputy CM of Karnataka - MP Prakash - on Dec 4 as their guest editor.

This reminded me of TOI having NRN has their guest editor about a week back. One of the striking appeals of NRN was to have only "positive news" on the front page of the newspaper that day.

Contrast this with what Vijaya Karnataka (for that even Hindu that day) had on the front page - A man kills his two chidren and wife before ending his life due to loss in business. Sigh!

Lemme make one point clear - What I'm saying has got nothing to do with the recent spat b/w NRN and MP Prakash's mentor Deve Gowda!. I'm comparing what NRN did against what MP Prakash did not on just itz face value.....is it the responsibility of the media to showcase the positives happening in the soceity and conceal the negatives to the inner pages and lesser words?

This reminds me of one of the favorite questions posed by the moral brigade: Is the rampant show of eve-teasing in movies resulting in eve-teasing becoming more rampant in the society? I would guess yes.

Similarly, I would also guess sensationalization of suicidal deaths by the MSM does contribute in increasing the suicides in the soceity. Tell me, what value addition does a four column wide news on this mass suicide (as put by Hindu on Dec 4) did as against a single paragraph, other than sensationalism? Hope the MSM realize the indirect repercussions of their actions.

Where can we go to find God if we cannot see Him in our own hearts and in every living being?
